This page explains how buceeslocation.com decides what to publish, where the information comes from, how it is verified, how often it is reviewed, and what happens when we get something wrong. We publish it because a directory is only worth using if you can see how it was built.
Our Standards in Short
- Every factual claim traces back to a public source we can point to.
- Where a figure is an estimate rather than verified fact, we label it as an estimate on the page itself.
- Where we cannot verify something, the field stays empty. We do not fill gaps with plausible guesses.
- No business can pay to be included, described favourably, or ranked higher.
- Corrections are made openly and quickly, and significant ones are noted on the page.
Where Our Information Comes From
We are an independent directory with no access to internal company information. Everything here is assembled from sources anyone can check:
- Published company location listings and official opening announcements for store addresses, store numbers, and confirmed opening dates.
- State department of transportation exit databases and highway signage for interstate exit numbers.
- County and municipal planning records, permit filings, and council agendas for announced but unopened locations. These are frequently the earliest reliable public evidence that a store is coming.
- Local and regional news reporting for opening dates, store specifications, and construction updates, preferring outlets with a reporter physically present over aggregated syndication.
- Reader reports from people who have visited a store and found something different from what we published.
We prefer primary sources. Where we rely on a news report, we prefer the outlet closest to the story rather than a national aggregator repeating it.
How We Verify
Different categories of information get different treatment, because they carry different risks of being wrong.
Store Addresses and Store Numbers
Taken from published company listings and cross-checked against mapping data before publication. A mismatch between sources means the entry is held back until it resolves.
Exit Numbers
Cross-checked against state DOT exit databases and, where available, photographs of highway signage. If we cannot verify an exit number, we leave it blank. A store showing a highway with no exit number means the exit is unconfirmed, not that no exit exists. This is deliberate: a wrong exit number sends someone past their stop at 70 miles per hour, which is worse than no exit number at all.
Store Sizes
Drawn from company statements and local permitting coverage. This is why some figures are oddly precise, such as Luling’s 75,593 square feet, while others are the round 74,000 square feet the company quotes for its current flagship template. We reproduce the figure the source gives rather than rounding it into false consistency.
Announced Locations and Opening Dates
We do not publish a rumoured location on the strength of social media chatter alone. A location enters the directory as “coming soon” when it is corroborated by a company announcement, a public planning or permitting record, or credible published reporting.
Every future date is marked provisional, because construction schedules slip constantly and openings move by months or years. Where a date has been pushed back, we say so on the entry rather than quietly replacing the old date.
Fuel Prices and Charger Counts
Fuel prices shown on this site are estimates, not a live feed, and are labelled as such wherever they appear. Prices change daily and vary by grade. Charger stall and pump counts are recorded at the time of writing and are periodically expanded by operators, so they are approximate.
Crowd Levels
The quiet and busy indicators are modelled from typical travel patterns for the day and hour. They are not live occupancy data, and they cannot anticipate holiday traffic, local events, or weather. We label them as predictions because presenting a model as a measurement would be misleading.
Review Schedule
- Continuously: reader-reported errors, which are triaged as they arrive.
- Monthly: the coming-soon list, checked against company announcements and local reporting for schedule changes.
- Quarterly: a full pass over open store entries, checking addresses, amenities, and store counts.
- On event: immediately when a store opens, closes, or is announced.
Written guides carry a visible last-updated date. When a guide is revised substantively, that date changes; we do not refresh dates cosmetically to make old content look new.
Corrections
We would rather be corrected than be wrong quietly.
To report an error, email [email protected] with the store city and number, what we listed, what you actually found, and roughly when you were there. A photo of signage is enormously helpful, particularly for exit numbers and addresses.
What happens next:
- The report is acknowledged, normally within a few days.
- We check it against an independent second source. A single unverified report is not enough on its own to change a published figure, but it is enough to trigger a check.
- Clear factual errors, such as a wrong address or exit number, are corrected as soon as verification completes, usually within a few days.
- Where a correction materially changes what a page told readers, we note the change and its date on the page rather than silently overwriting it.
- Where we cannot verify either version, the disputed field is emptied rather than left showing something we no longer trust.
Advertising and Editorial Independence
This site is free to read and is funded by display advertising served programmatically through Google AdSense. That relationship is disclosed on every relevant page.
Advertising has no bearing on editorial decisions. Specifically:
- No business can pay to appear in the directory, to be described more favourably, or to rank higher in any listing.
- Advertisers have no advance sight of content and no right of review over it.
- Advertisements are served automatically. We do not select individual advertisers, and an ad appearing here is not an endorsement.
- Ads are visually distinguishable from editorial content and are never formatted to imitate it.
- If we ever publish affiliate links or sponsored content, it will be labelled clearly at the point where it appears, in line with FTC endorsement guidelines and equivalent rules elsewhere.
Independence from Buc-ee’s
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Buc-ee’s Ltd. We receive no payment, data access, or editorial direction from the company. That independence cuts both ways: we have no privileged information, and we are under no obligation to present the chain favourably. Use of AI Tools
We use software assistance for routine tasks such as formatting, checking internal consistency across entries, and drafting. Every factual claim published on this site is verified by a person against a source before it goes live, and a human is responsible for what appears here. We do not publish unreviewed machine-generated content, and we do not generate store data from a model.
What We Do Not Publish
- Unverified rumours about future locations presented as fact
- Live-sounding figures we cannot actually measure, such as real-time fuel prices or occupancy
- Content reproduced from other publishers without permission
- Personal information about employees or customers
- Paid placements disguised as editorial
